As you may have heard, a reasonable deal seems to have been reached regarding ECMC and Kaleida. We must wait for the Dept. of Health to approve it.
I wanted to let you know that our CSEA representatives worked tirelessly this past weekend in conjunction with NEWCO, MD’s and Hospital Administrators. We probably will not get any credit but we do not expect any. We’re just doing our job.
Thank you to Courtney Brunelle, our CSEA Region PAC Coordinator, Fran Turner, our Statewide PAC Coordinator, and all of our CSEA members countywide for your postcards and phone calls. It was not only ECMC members calling and filling out postcards but our fellow union brothers and sisters throughout the towns and villages and various County departments. This is what unifies us – what happens to one happens to all.
Special thanks to Sen. Antoine Thompson, Dennis Gabryszak and Dale Volker and the E.C. Legislature Health Committee which includes Tom Mazur, Bob Reynolds, Betty Jean Grant, Barbara Miller-Williams and Edward Rath, III, and all the others who supported ECMC and the community that we serve.
The battle is not over. We must diligently watch over what deals are made to make sure the community is not harmed. Bob Gioia and Mr. Collins seem intent on trying to break the union with statements about changing the Public Benefit Corporation legislation.
Let me assure you that we will not rest if any attempt to break the PBC is proposed. Our benefits, like those of Kaleida employees, should have no impact on the quality of care provided by either ECMC or Kaleida.
Tuesday’s Buffalo News is wrong. The State Legislature does not need to approve consent decree.
An informational meeting has been scheduled at ECMC for Monday, June 30th at 2:30PM and 3:30PM in the Overflow Cafeteria. Another meeting has been tentatively scheduled at the EC Home for Thursday, July 3rd. The time has not been set. Keep watching our website and your bulletin boards for updates.
